Carmel received a
certificate of appreciation from the Ghana High Commission for donating
a set of books for their library.
Title : Sports Day (21st November)
Sports Day (21st November, 2015): The much anticipated Sports Day of Gitanjali School was held on 21st November in Thyagraj Sports Complex. Ms. Pritam Rani Siwach, a prominent athletic figure, previously the Captain of the Indian Women?s hockey team was the Chief Guest.
The program was inaugurated with the Tarana group singing inspirational songs for the gathering. It was followed by the students of class 9 to 11 Marching on tunes played by the School Band. This was a graceful display of months of hard work and training done by the students.
The students of Carmel Buds presented a Butterfly Dance in their colorful costumes and the students from Class 5 to 8 did an energetic dance portraying various sports such as football, hockey etc.
Students of the junior and the Senior School displayed Taekwondo skills and Self-defense statics taught in Carmel.
Various students from Carmel Buds to Class 11th participated in a number of Races such as the 100 meters race, 200 meters race, Relay race, partner race etc. In addition to this was the Tug-of-war for students of class 8th to 11th.
The Event finally drew to a close with the announcement of The Best Marching Scout.
Title : Reading Time
Reading time was organised in school on 27th Nov to promote reading habits. During the 35 minutes dedicated to this event the staff and students read books of their interest.
Title : Childrens Day Celebration
Carmel celebrated Children's Day on 18th Nov '15. Teachers entertained the students on their special day by singing and dancing for them. A game of Tambola was organized for the students who thoroughly enjoyed it. As per tradition ice-cream was distributed to all the students.
Title : Sr.Nirmalini visit to Gitanjali School
Sr. Nirmalini, Provincial Head, Western Region, was in Gitanjali School
, Delhi on an official visit on 10th November 2015. She was given a warm welcome by the staff and students. A grand assembly was held in her honour. Sr. Nirmalini visited Malab village along with Sr. Birgit , Principal, St. Gertrudis,Ellwangen, Germany to see the development taking place.
Title : Bidding Farewell to Tr. Navneet Singh
On 29th Oct , Carmel bid farewell to Tr. Navneet Singh. Tr. Navneet completed 13 years of dedicated service in Carmel teaching Political Science and Sociology in senior classes. She will be remembered for the values and morals she inculcated in the students. She has been a guiding light for the students and will be surely missed by staff and students.
Title : German Exchange Program 2015
On 24th Oct '15, 12 German students from St. Gertrudis,
Ellwangen, Germany along with teachers Maria Herdeg and Barbara Stock arrived
in India as part of the ongoing Indo-German Exchange programme. This programme
which was initiated in 2009 has proved to be extremely successful in strengthening
the bonds of friendship between the two schools. The German students spent
three weeks with their Indian counterparts and their families.
A special assembly was held to welcome the German students in Carmel. The topic of this year's exchange was "Religion". The German students along with their Indian
partners visited various religious places such as the Akshardham temple, Birla
Temple, Lotus temple, Chattarpur temple,
Jannat-e-Islamia Mosque and Shri Gurudwara Bangla Sahib. The Germans also visited Taj Mahal. As a part of their activities
the students were taken to the Muraji Yoga Centre where they were taught about
Yoga and its significance.
The Exchange Program concluded on the 10th of November.
The twelve Indian students of class 10 selected for the program along with Tr. Rekha Roy and Tr. Linda Colaco look forward to visiting Ellwangen in May
2016.
Title : German Delegation visits Carmel
A German delegation
of the young fraction of the CDU-CSU Parliamentary Group in Germany led by Mr. Steffen Bilger, MP visited Carmel
on 26th Oct. They were accompanied by Dr.Steidt, Ambassador and Inspector General, Federal Foreign Office, Berlin.
The purpose
of their visit was to award the German learning students of class 11 who wrote
the German Language Diploma (Deustsche Sprach Diplom (DSD I) in April 2015.
These students were the first in India to be awarded this Diploma. A programme
was held in their honour. The MPs were extremely impressed by the German
speaking skills of the students.
Title : Carmel Teacher Connect meet
There was a Carmel Teacher's Connect meeting and get-together held in the school Auditorium on Friday 18th September 2015. Our new Principal Sr. Joviana A.C and Sr. Bina A.C ( in charge of Junior School ) were warmly welcomed after a brief silence in memory of the departed souls of Sr. Carmella and Tr. Vinita Ghosh. An entertainment program was followed b a powerpoint presentation.
Title : Class XI school trip - 2015
On 8th October, 86 students of class XI and 7
accompanying teachers were in Mussorie on a school trip. The students went
sightseeing and visited touGitanjali Schoolt spots such as Kempty Falls, Gun Hill and the
Mall road. The students thoroughly
enjoyed the DJ night organized by the hotel.
